Hope is never lost...
Friends are never gone...
There will always be a light
Shining brightly, just for you.

by K. Miller

A brief explanation before introducing you to my Ramiel adoptables

In November 2007, I lost a very dear friend to suicide. It has left an indelible mark upon me that no amount of time will ever erase, and yet as with all things, I had to come to terms with it.

In the months that followed, I experimented more and more with the idea of creating a "tribute" adoptable design, something distinctive, that I could have created in many manifestations. It would stand as my reminder to myself that life goes on and as a symbol for others who might have suffered the same loss. But, despite my attempts, I couldn't find the inspiration I needed.

That is, until I learned about Ramiel.

In Christian and Islamic tradition, Ramiel is known as the Angel of Hope and Mercy, and one of his chief duties is to guide the souls of the departed into Heaven. For someone recovering from a tragic loss, he is a constant and comforting companion.

When I received a custom Katsu from Chem, I knew I wanted to try to make "Ramiel" my tribute custom. I told Chem all about Ramiel, and what he meant, both in tradition and to me, and though I still didn't know what I specifically wanted, I had some vague ideas. Chem took everything I said, went away, and came back with my first Ramiel, and the ultimate design for all that followed.

Everything about Ramiel does have a meaning. Yellow is the colour of hope, and thus a fitting colour for the angel of hope. Most Ramiel adoptables also wear a yellow ribbon, denoting the Yellow Ribbon Campaign for the Prevention of Suicide. The rainbows symbolism promises, creation, and bridges, and among pet owners, the bridge between this world and the next is usually referred to as Rainbow Bridge. The white calla is a common mourning flower, but in fact is a symbol of beauty and light, and is also my favourite flower.

That is the story behind Ramiel. I cannot thank those who have created my Ramiel customs for me enough, as they will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I invite you to check often for new Ramiels as I acquire them.
